Peter Mulvey - Are You Listening?

  #

Songwriter, entertainer extraordinaire, Peter Mulvey joins us again in late February with Danielle Ate The Sandwich for an evening of stories & music up on the hill. It has been marvelous to watch Peter develop over these last 10 years.

Mulvey is an iconoclast within the singer/songwriter world.Restless and inventive, he has made seventeen records,
spanning rock and roll, folk, Jazz, spoken word, and Americana.A long-standing gig at the National Youth Science Camp led to a spoken word piece, “Vlad the Astrophysicist”, which became a TEDx talk, and then an illustrated book.

In 2015, “Take Down Your Flag”, his song about the victims of the shooting at the AME Emanuel Church in Charleston, reached 200,000 people when many songwriters, including Ani DiFranco, Anais Mitchell, Keb’ Mo, Paula Cole, & Jeff Daniels, re-wrote the middle verse and posted their own videos of the song. This movement led to an online benefit concert, and a deepening of the friendship between Mulvey and DiFranco. Early in 2016 DiFranco produced “Are You Listening?”, Peter Mulvey’s 17th record, which will be released March 24th on Righteous Babe Records.

We've been lucky enough to have him through the house numerous times over the years and each concert is better than the last.

Tony Furtado Up On The Hill!

  #

String wizard Tony Furtado and his trio join us here at the house as we welcome the month of February.  Tony is a two time winner of the National Bluegrass Banjo Championship at Winflield, KS.   He's also a renown slide guitar player.   Tony has been through FHC before and presented a memorable show.   He has toured with Allison Kraus & Union Station and reviews of his playing from more gifted writers than me have this to say about Tony:

"As a banjo virtuoso, Furtado is well-known for his envelope-pushing, progressive bluegrass stylings. His picking is rapid-fire quick, sharp and clear, and puts him in the school of Béla Fleck and David Grisman."  -  Telluride Daily Planet

“Tony Furtado is a major musical force without a doubt. He has his black-belt in voice and bottleneck guitar and his banjo playing scares the crap out of me.”
– David Lindley, musical adventurer
