The Book

  #

Y'all really want to get your tickets in for the Roy Book Binder concert.  Marc first booked Roy for a show at Hamilton College over 20 years ago and he's followed him faithfully since then.  If you enjoyed the Chris Smither concert, you shouldn't miss Roy.  Roy is a star in the world of country blues for many reasons:  he's a great guitar picker, and he masterfully recreates and updates many of the blues songs from the early part of the 20th Century. But most of all, he's a wonderful storyteller. His weaves tales in between songs- many drawn from his own experience traveling with the late Rev. Gary Davis and other legendary blues performers, and many (perhaps) apocryphal. He's funny, touching, and a warm and wonderful performer.   His music is accessible, moving, and makes your feet tap. I once heard him say that since there's not a lot of money in the blues thing, so he's repackaing himself as a singer/songwriter- he plays originals, old blues, new blues, and other songs that are hard to categorize, but all of them have that certain Book Binder thing. Roy's been touring the world for nearly 40 years, and has a rabid fan base- we've had people from a long way away already send in checks, so this one's going to sell out quickly.

Looking for audio clips I discovered that there are very few used RBB CD's available, an indication of the dedication of his fan base.  You should check out "gin done done it" of "friend like me" here.  There are several other albums are here as well to peruse.
