Less than 3 weeks until our next show! Peter Mulvey remains the most played artist on my Ipod. There is something so magical about his voice and his mastery of the guitar is attention grabbing. He just puts me in a good mood! His lyrics are effortlessly dead on for so many things - affairs of the heart, political messes and life. How about this one?

and all alarms are drown out by the chatter of TV,
There's one question I'm burning to ask it,
where's this headed and why the handbasket?"

While "Knuckleball Suite" or his recordings from the depths of the Boston subway, "Ten Thousand Mornings", wrestle in my mind for the title of his best album, these clips from "Notes From Elsewhere" are probably most like Peter live at FHC. Look for us with Peter up in Stratton Open Space on Friday afternoon before this concert in January. There is also a new clip on his site that's wonderful...

Happy Everything!

We received the greatest Christmas card from friends back in New York. Just a family picture and a simple "Happy Everything!" caption. We will add to it a bit and say THANK YOU for all the support you've passed our way this year. The December concert was a great reminder why we do this. Seth Glier, a young and upcoming artist, opened so strongly that we had no idea how Cheryl Wheeler could top that, yet top it she did! We are SO looking forward to another great year of concerts here in 2012. (BTW - please let me know if you will support a summer concert w/ Seth Glier...)

Hey... If you're still looking for holiday gifts, how about going on line and getting tickets to the January concert with Peter Mulvey? Who needs more nick knacks, doesn't a great night out hold more memories?!

We had to set up bank account to accommodate the ticketing, so we're asking you to make the checks out to Friends House Concerts instead of the artist in the future. The artists will be SO happy to eventually receive a single check instead of 10s of checks!

We heard about this group from a fellow house concert venue in Texas. We think that you'll enjoy the energy of this group in March. As we're sitting here waiting for snow, I trust that you'll enjoy this great video. Unlike Texas it COULD BE cold here in Colorado! Here's one a bit more soulful... It's going to be another crowded evening on stage with instruments I fear, but the harmonies will be worth it!

A Cold Night In February With Willy Porter Up On The Hill

It's been way too long since Willy's been here with us. Willy's been busy with all kinds of projects: producing albums for others (including Natalia Z.), touring with Carpa Diem and even playing the part of a professors at Fender Guitar's University. Look at this man's chops on Moonbeam or get a feel for his shows with the intro to Paper Airplane... (The video quality is pretty bad, but the memory of his similar intro here at the house is one of THE most incredible performances we've had here...)

What never fails to impress us is the self deprecating humor that goes hand in hand with the incredible talent we see here time and time again. We've had a couple of big checks come in for this concert, so make sure that you reserve your seats for this soon.

Serendipity - Seth Glier With Cheryl Wheeler

Pay attention folks...

I've always thought that serendiptiy was one of the strongest forces at work on us. Jill Sobule, for some unclear reason, has cancelled her tour with Cheyl Wheeler in December. Instead, you're going to get a half an hour with an amazing new talent - Seth Glier. USA Today recently compared Seth to the likes of Bruce Springsteen & Billy Joel. Last year Seth shared the stage with James Taylor, Mark Knopfler & The Verve Pipe. We haven't seen him yet, but the first song on his jukebox may have stolen Whitney's heart... Take a listen here to his jukebox or catch this video and tell us that you wouldn't want to have just a full evening of him!

He'll be here on the tail of his "Food for Thought Tour" where each of his shows kicks off a food bank drive in the hosting city just prior to the the Thanksgiving holiday. This quote about his latest album "The Next Right Thing" caught our eye: "Each one of us is presented with the opportunity every day to do the next right thing, but we rarely take the time," Glier says. "For a society so obsessed with being a part of something greater than ourselves, we are really quick to let our own fears and indifference shut the door on our intentions." A talented musician AND an old soul to boot!

Pinch Yourself - Cheryl Wheeler Here At The House

We've heard about Cheryl's shows for years, but she's been reluctant to perform in such a small space. Something clicked this year and we have somehow convinced her to come...

She's an amazing talent on so many fronts. Just listening to her music doesn't really do her justice. Take a quick look at this video and tell me HOW you could miss this concert up front and close!

The price of $30 for both Cheryl & Seth is an incredible deal. Tickets are selling on line quickly for this one. We hope you'll join us.

FHC Online Ticketing At Eventbrite

We've finally moved in to the modern era with on line ticketing through Eventbrite. You can still send your checks to our PO Box and save the ticket processing costs, but for those of you with poor planning skills - there is a credit card option!

Here is our link for tickets to our concerts. We have posted the links to Peter Mulvey and to Willy Porter, but to be fair to those more "traditional" customers, we've only opened up half the house for on line ticketing. Any unsold cash seats will go out for online ticketing 30 days before the performance.

Kelly Joe Phelps is an amazing musician. He's been rolling around in the back of our minds for a number of years. We never seemed to be able to match our schedule to his. Corrine's resonant voice blends seamlessly with Kelly Joe's for a great show and her songwriting skills make headlines all around the world. Take a listen to their music and just see if you want to miss this concert...

Our Muse Stumbles

We're a unique family... Lucketts have actually always like Friday the 13ths, that is until last week. Even the normally unshakeable Annie is hurting on this one. On Wednesday, Erika was taking a break from a recording session when she lost consciousness. The paramedics couldn't find an obvious cause for the problem, so she went right back in and finished recording.

By Friday we knew a lot more than we wanted to... Click here for more details. As most of you know, Erika was the muse behind this concert series. She gave us the courage to start out on this incredible adventure and we have all been touched by her music over the years. Now she needs our support.

Summer FHC Update

As y'all know - summer is not the best time for concerts here. Thanks to wonderful companies around town there is plenty of free music AND it's festival season. I understand that there are some great festivals close by this year, so make sure that you get out and take advantage of them.

Don't miss the O'Brien Party of Seven Concert here... I guarantee that this is going to be one of the best ever....

We're in negotiations with Willy P - so he'll be here at some point in February, but the date isn't nailed down, so we haven't included it here.

The Fall concerts are still up in the air, but watch this space for some new & incredible sounds.
